What is the path to becoming a college professor?
There is, but it has nothing to do with “teaching” minors. And college professors almost never start out teaching in K-12 environments. To teach at most colleges and universities, you need a Ph.D. Much of what a professor does is research, and Ph.D. programs prepare you to become a researcher, so you would need to get your bachelor’s degree, followed by a Ph.D. in your subject matter (in your case, math). In many fields, you would need to get a master’s degree before going on for a Ph.D – I’m not sure if that is true of math. Some community colleges will hire some faculty who have just a master’s degree in their subject matter. That pretty much depends on where you work, because if there are lots of mathematicians with Ph.D.s looking for work in your area, it would be hard for someone with just a master’s degree to compete, but in some areas, there aren’t many such people, and a master’s would be sufficient.
