What is the path I should take to become a forensic nurse?
Answer Hello Dee! Thank you for your question and interest in forensic nursing! You are quite an accomplished person already. A prerequisite to becoming a forensic nurse is that you need to be a registered nurse (RN) first. You already have a degree in forensic science, so you have a forensic “upbringing”. There are many ways to getting your registered nurse (RN) degree. There are presently 2 year and 4 year programs on the west coast. Other states may have a 3 year program. There are community colleges (2 year) nursing programs There are State or University nursing programs (4 year) There are private college nursing programs There are alternative (night/partial on-line nursing programs) So many choices. But, with someone with NO nursing experience, I would recommend (minimally) a 2 year traditional program.
