What is the Passport Program?
The Foster Care Passport Program is a statewide program in Washington. Snohomish Health District is funded by the Children’s Administration of the State of Washington to implement the Passport program in Snohomish County in collaboration with Children’s Administration caseworkers. The program compiles the health history of children in foster care into an abbreviated health record called a Passport. The Passport includes information about medical and dental exams, diagnoses, hospitalizations or surgeries, immunizations, allergies and medications- the information needed by caseworkers, foster parents, parents, and health care providers to manage the child’s health care needs appropriately. Why Is This Program Important? Children in foster care have disproportionately high rates of physical, developmental, and mental health problems and may arrive at their foster homes with unmet medical and mental health needs (American Academy of Pediatrics [AAP] Policy Statement, Nov. 2000). Passport is a unique academic support program that grants students an opportunity to earn admission to Saint Joseph’s. Sometimes students’ SAT scores or their high school grade point averages do not accurately reflect their academic promise. Saint Joseph’s is committed to giving these students the opportunity to attend the University through the Passport Program. The program begins with conditional acceptance and a comprehensive support system, through which students receive personalized academic advising throughout their undergraduate experience. How Does Passport Work? Once accepted into the Passport Program, students participate in a six-week residential summer program, from late June through early August. Some students may choose to commute from home. This experience introduces students to college-level coursework and eases the transition to college life. Passport is a program that enables people to participate in City of Richfield Recreation programs who may otherwise be unable, due to financial constraints. How does the program work? Participants may use their Passport card to receive discounts on the following programs: -Richfield Older Adult programs -Richfield Recreation programs -Wood Lake Nature Center programs -Richfield Community Education programs -Richfield Ice Arena programs -Richfield Outdoor Pool passes -Richfield Youth Athletics Participants may use up to $75 per person in discounts for Richfield Recreation Services programs (Community Center, Recreation and Wood Lake).
