What is the Part One GNVQ?

0

The Part One GNVQ consists of three compulsory units and is available at foundation and intermediate levels. It was originally designed for key stage 4 pupils but is now available to both key stage 4 and post-16 students. The assessment of each unit taken as part of a Part One GNVQ differs from the main GNVQ pattern – each unit carries a test and a portfolio weighted at a ratio of 1:2. A successful Part One GNVQ IT student can gain exemption from all the IT key skill assessment requirements at the same level. Part One GNVQ is being phased out. September 2002 was the final opportunity to start a Part One GNVQ course. The final resit opportunity will be in January 2004. The GCSE in Applied ICT (Double Award), introduced in September 2002, will replace the Part One GNVQ. A timeline outlining the change is available on this website.
