What is the Parkland Health and Hospital System?
The Parkland Health and Hospital System was created as a county hospital district and is operating according to state law. Parkland’s mandate is “to furnish medical aid and hospital care to indigent and needy persons residing in the hospital district.” Parkland is a safety-net hospital and therefore mandated to treat those residing in the hospital district who are in need, whether indigent, uninsured, undocumented or legal citizens.
