The Paradyne modem is an ADSL2+ modem that utilizes Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) for high-speed internet connectivity. This modem can be configured as a single-port router to work with non-PPPoE compatible Windows operating systems that were released previous to Windows XP (i.e. Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000). My new computer contains a DSL modem. Can I use that? Yes, if it is an ADSL modem. Note that most internal modems that come shipped with new computers are for dial-up connections only and would not work with the ADSL standard.
