What is the Palm Beach County Court wireless network, and how is it being used?
The wireless network is simply a method for attorneys, court reporters and journalists to have access to the Internet while working inside the courthouse. Before it was installed, access to the Internet at the courthouse required the use of a slow wireless modem or the good luck of getting one of the few telephone connections available. Q: Are people other than lawyers using the network and, if so, for what kinds of uses? Not yet. But I have received telephone calls from court reporters who have recognized the potential of the system and have begun setting up the hardware on their office network to accommodate remote connections over the Internet Q: Who proposed the idea of creating a wireless local area network (WLAN) for lawyers in the Palm Beach courthouse, and why? Were there particular problems that you sought to solve with a wireless network in the courthouse? The original proposal was the work of the Technology Committee of the Palm Beach County Bar Association. We were asked by
