What is the paediatric variant of the programme?
The Postgraduate Diploma also offers you the option to study palliative medicine/care in children. Children are very different from adults, but during the terminal phase some of their needs are similar to those of dying adults. While some specialist skills and knowledge of the adult variant of the programme are helpful, other skills need adaptation and modification to be of direct relevance to the care of paediatric patients. Some aspects of palliative care in children are quite different from the adult speciality and the paediatric variant of the Diploma has been designed for those who wish to develop their palliative care skills to better support both children with life-limiting conditions, in their care, and their families.
