What is the P rating all about ?
P ratings reflect the new rating methodology established by Cyrix, IBM and MDR Laboratories, Sebastopol, California. The P ratings translate to internal clock frequencies of 150MHz for the P200+, 133MHz for the P166+, 120MHz for the P133+, 110MHz for the P120+ and 100MHz for the P120+. The rating is used to match the lower-speed 6×86’s against the closest competitive CPUs from Intel, the 200-, 166-, 150-, 133-, and the 120MHz Pentiums. Even though the 6×86 runs at a lower clock speed (MHz), the P rating tells you that it will actually process data and give the performance of the equivalent Intel Pentium CPU. (i.e.
