What is the overall structure of the EHEA qualifications?
In the framework of the European Higher Education Area, all degrees are contained within three stages or cycles: the first cycle leads the student to a first, official degree qualification at the same academic level as the combined results of Spain’s former, two-step degree structure (its ‘first cycle’ , which might be generally understood as a diploma, followed by its ‘second cycle’, meaning a full degree); the second and third stages or cycles will together constitute the postgraduate program, meaning the university master’s degree and doctoral studies.
