The sampling strategy for the CAHPS PCMH Survey for the general population is the same as the strategy described in Fielding the CAHPS Clinician & Group Survey (https://www.cahps.ahrq.gov/cahpskit/files/33_CG_Fielding_the_Survey.pdf) in the CAHPS Clinician & Group Survey and Reporting Kit. Use of the CAHPS PCMH Survey for patients with chronic conditions requires the identification of patients with chronic conditions for the sampling frame. The CAHPS Consortium is currently investigating methods for identifying patients with chronic conditions for targeted sampling using the CAHPS PCMH Survey.
