What is the overall health for the population of Kuito?
After the war ended in 2002, the outskirts of Kuito housed 130,000 refugees whose bodies were malnourished, and covered in skin diseases. Their stomachs were bloated, and many had elephant feet. The refugees who arrived in Kuito arrived with absolutely nothing left, other than the clothes on their back. Some of them were injured by landmines, or were suffering from advanced stages of malnutrition—many of them emotionally bewildered by the devastation they have experienced.
