What is the origin of Western Music Solfege?

You’ve answered your own question. Almost all western music fundamentals developed from ‘eastern’ music. The ancient east codified what became, with few changes, the ‘western’ modes, by way of Ancient Greece. Notice, too, that apart from all the additional ‘coloring’ pitches of Indian Music, here too, is the basic Seven-Note Scale! The only western instrument(s) which do not have antique eastern predecessors are keyboard instruments, organ, clavichord, harpsichord, piano, etc. Best regards.
