The Spinone Italiano can trace its roots to the Piedmont region of Italy. At the end of World War II there were few remaining Spinoni. In the 1950s breeders, not wanting to lose this versatile hunting dog, made the effort to reconstruct the Spinone. What does the Spinone Italiano look like? The Spinone is a robustly built dog, 22-28 inches tall and 64-86 lbs. depending on gender. The muzzle is long and squarish. Ears are long, pendant, almost triangular in shape.
