What is the origin of the phrase “running with scissors”?
The phrase has it’s origins in 18th century England. Typically, children of a certain age tend to run everywhere. Also, at that age, the most dangerous item that they were likely to be using was scissors. Hence “running with scissors” was pretty much the most dangerous thing that a (supervised) child could do. These days the phrase is more often used to mean a life lived on the edge, taking risks etc.
