What is the origin of the game of chess?
I believe it evolved from two separate games. One was a Norse game called King’s Table where the pieces could move only rank and file. It merged with an Arabic/Persian strategy game to become our modern version of chess. Now, Chinese chess is more challenging than regular chess. (In my opinion) The origins of chess is one of most controversial topics in chess history. Countries which, at one time or the other, have been associated with the invention of chess include India, China, Persia (Iran), Egypt, Assyria, Arabia, Greece, Ireland and Uzbekistan. Though many countries claim to have invented the chess game in some incipient form, the most commonly held view is that chess originated in India.[1]. In the past only India had all three animals, horse, camel and elephant, in its cavalry, which represent knight, bishop and rook in chess.
