What is the origin of our fears of Friday the 13th?
Friday is an unlucky day because Christ was crucified on that day. Thirteen is not only one off from that happy number 12 that is divisible by so many things, but was also the number present at the Last Supper. The two superstitions have come together to make Friday 13th exceptionally unlucky, especially if you purchase weird items in dusty old shops. There is at least one Friday 13th every year. The most Friday 13ths that can fall in a year is three. If one falls in January on a leap year, then one will also fall in April and July. If one falls in February in a non-leap year then one will also fall in March and November. If one falls in January (non-leap year) or May then it will be the only one that year.
