What is the origin of IBR?
The IBR method was developed by Distinguished Professor Conly L Hansen, Director of the Utah State University Center for Profitable Use of Agricultural By-products. This method was originally designed for the treatment of dairy manure flush water, which is a high strength waste [high in chemical oxygen demand (COD)] laden with particulate solids in the forms of straw bedding, wasted feed, and abrasive stones and sand, along with unpredictable items. Developmental objectives included: operational simplicity for on-farm use, elimination of the need to remove particulate solids prior to digestion, and efficient transformation of biodegradable organics to methane.
