What is the organizational framework for the LBJ Program?
The LBJ program resides within the Educational Services Division of the Austin Fire Department. An Educational Services Division Captain is the Program Coordinator and is responsible for program implementation and management. Further, there is a standing committee termed the LBJ Advisory Committee that provides direction and input within the decision-making process. At the Instructor level the chain of command is as follows: Support/Adjunct report to Backup Leads, who then report to Primary Leads. Lead Instructors report directly to the Program Coordinator. Support and Adjunct Instructors will coordinate with and report to the Primary Lead Instructors. The program is designed to have two instructors in the classroom at all times. Additionally, instructors also have scheduled times to be at the school to mentor students.
