The Oracle version should be 8.0 or higher. However, the most important is the ODBC drivers and concerning the Oracle driver version, in the tests we have made, we can successfully use Oracle through the Microsoft Driver version 2.573.4403.00. Please note that there are two drivers for Oracle databases, one is Microsoft the other is from Oracle. It is known that the Microsoft driver is the only that works fine in most of the cases. We found that the Oracle 7 has some problems when connecting thought ODBC. In some reported problems with Oracle databases even Oracle advised the clients to update to Oracle 8. The demonstration version of Oracle 8 installs user SYSTEM, password MANAGER, by default a DBA (Data base administrator). Tests with Oracle 8i version 8.1.7 have shown problems (GPF) with the Oracle ODBC Driver packed with the 8i CD, but not with the Microsoft ODBC driver version 2.573.6526.00. The problem was definitely solved by updating the Oracle8 ODBC Driver 8.01.74.0. This driv
