What is the optimal time limit for evaluating a treatment for fibromyalgia ?
Most of the studies, which have been carried out show that the time limit for evaluating the efficacy of a treatment has been of 4 weeks, which seems quite short, considering that the average evolution of such a syndrome can be counted in years. It therefore seems necessary to envisage an evaluation of at least three months, using blind-test random protocols, and eventually completing this with a three-month open evaluation. This would better suit the current rules, which have been set out by the relevant authorities concerning the evaluation of treatments for chronic pain syndromes.
