The oldest record of golf actually being played was on 2nd March 1672 in the accounts book of Sir John Foulis an Edinburgh accountant. “… played golfe at Musselburgh and lost £3 5′ 0”. Musselburgh Old Course is still in existance and competitions are still played there reguarly by Musselburgh Old Course Golf Club.
