What is the oldest age for weight loss surgery?
Age does not directly determine if someone can have weight loss surgery. Their health at the time they come to the operating room does. Some folks are just too sick to have weight loss surgery until they can lose some of their excess weight. We will customize a plan for individuals like this! A 60 year old woman with obesity and high blood pressure can be a great candidate for surgery. A 50 year old man with obesity, congestive heart failure, asthma and kidney failure is a poor candidate for surgery and likely will not have surgery. The number and severity of medical problems that a person has will determine if they are a good candidate for surgery. It is rare however that someone would be excluded from something that will change their life for the better. After all, your medical conditions are likely caused or being worsened by your weight.
