• What is or are the goal(s) of the program? The LBJ High School Fire Academy has several goals. One of our primary goals is to introduce the profession of firefighting to LBJ High School students who ordinarily would never have considered emergency service work as a viable career path. Another fundamental goal is to provide a high quality fire fighter and EMT accreditation program that imparts to our students the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed on the State certification exams. We strive to cultivate an environment that encourages and teaches professionalism, discipline and personal responsibility that will prepare our students to become productive citizens, competent leaders and effective decision makers. Also, the program seeks to develop new instructor talent within the ranks of the AFD through certification class offerings and firsthand classroom experience.
