What is the OASIC Architecture?
The optical components landscape is currently riddled with a variety of discrete, fixed-value optical components, much like the diodes and transistors of the 1960’s. The Telephotonics OASIC (Optical Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) architecture enables customers to define high-level application-unique optical subsystems, then have Telephotonics design this unique subsystem using the OASIC library of tunable optical elements, and fabricate it on a single chip; analogous to semiconductor integrated circuits. Advantages include higher performance, lower power consumption, lower cost, and higher reliability.
