WHAT IS THE OAHU REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION PLAN?
The Oahu Regional Transportation Plan (ORTP) is the official guide for the development of the major surface transportation facilities and programs to be implemented on Oahu. It is a long-term vision document that outlines transportation goals, objectives, and policies for Oahu. The plan identifies short-range and long-range strategies and actions that are designed to promote the development of an integrated intermodal transportation system that facilitates the safe, efficient, and economic movement of people and goods. Recognizing that the ORTP is a blueprint for identifying the development of future transportation improvements on Oahu, it should be noted, however, that the inclusion of a project in this plan does not guarantee its construction. Rather, it allows a project to begin a series of more detailed evaluations and to be eligible for federal funding.
