What is the number of projects and construction costs for building and improving roads on/off the reservations (Hopi & Navajo)?
The average construction cost for projects on reservations are a little higher than some of the costs off the reservation. Most of the increase in costs is due to increased haul distances for materials and meeting the different employment requirements dictated by tribal law (Per ADOT). The number varies from year to year for Navajo depending on the funding, size of projects, degree of project readiness, as examples (Per BIA-NRO). This information is available for the Hopi and Navajo Reservations from the BIA- WRO and NRO Branch of Roads, upon receipt of a written request from the tribe (Per BIA-WRO).
