What is the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act?
The No Child Left Behind Act is a re-approval of the original Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965. It is an effort to provide all children with an equal opportunity to obtain a quality education. Some of the features of NCLB are similar to what Columbus City Schools has offered for many years, such as school choice and after-school tutoring. However, the new law directs us in how we must channel our resources and has provided us with specific guidelines concerning the various aspects of the law. Columbus City Schools will continue to identify the most efficient and best practices to achieve academic excellence for all of our children.
