What is the Nintendo Rumble pack?
• The Nintendo Rumble pack is a battery powered device that you plug into the controller of your Nintendo 64. The video game software can send a signal that causes the Rumble Pack to vibrate when certain actions occur such as an explosion, a gun shoot, or a crash. The idea is immersion and to make the video game feel more real. It is a cool effect if used in moderation and it is also a bit tiresome if over used. Sony marketed and sold its dual analog controller in Japan with a rumble/vibrating device for its PlayStation video game machine. Nintendo sued Sony and stopped the sale of this device in the U.S., supposedly because of some patent infringement. The story is that Nintendo purchased this patent from Atari. Sony was forced to neuter the dual analog controller and remove the shaking device. Video game import houses sold out of the imported Sony dual analog controller with rumble device very quickly. Now a year later, Sony is selling the analog dual shock controller in the states.
