Hathaway and William Morgan. Though it was hastily put together and drew only a few entries, it was a rousing success. Seven American records and two world records were set in the three day tournament that ran from March 26 through March 28 of 1903. The highlight was a match race on day three for the ‘Ormond Challenge Cup’. The participants were the Winton ‘Bullet’ owned and driven by the premier racer Alexander Winton; the opponent was the Olds’ ‘Pirate’ owned by Ransom E. Olds, of Oldsmobile fame with driver H.T.
