What is the next document I file after the Notice of Appeal?
A. The party initiating the appeal (Appellant The party appealing a decision. This is the party who lost in the trial court and wants the Court of Appeals to reverse or modify the judgment of the trial court.) must file an Appellants Case Summary with the Appeals Court within thirty (30) days of filing the Notice of Appeal. This document tells the court who is involved in the case and what the case is about. There is a sample form for the Appellants Case Summary at the end of this guide. Please note that you have to attach two documents to the Appellants Case Summary (ACS). You must attach the judgment or order you are appealing and a file-stamped A document that has the official stamp of a clerks office indicating the date on which a document was accepted for filing. copy of the Notice of Appeal.
