What is the next deadline for EAS compliance and what size cable systems must comply?
The FCC mandate has a compliance date of October 1, 2002 for systems with less than 10,000 subscribers. According to the mandate all cable systems must comply regardless of size! (However, the mandate has language that allows small cable operators to seek a waiver based upon financial hardship. If you believe you fall into this category, you should submit your waiver request to the FCC as soon as possible. The FCC has estimated that there are approximately 1400 cable systems that would qualify for waiver.
