What is the next big thing the Red Cross will be doing for the survivors?
A Our next phase of relief is to create a bridge of assistance to meet emergency disaster needs until state and federal aid is available. The initial project is starting at Houston Astrodome and expanding across the country. Amounts are based on family size. Due to the scale of this disaster and the need to reach thousands of people in a fast and efficient way, Red Cross is using a variety of payment methods to meet needs. Although clients are being assisted through a variety of methods (e.g., debit cards, vouchers, chapter-issued checks), the assistance received is now consistent throughout the country.
