What is the new service that Microsoft is going to launch regarding music?
Microsoft is preparing a new music streaming service, “similar in principle to Spotify,” according to the company’s executive MSN producer, Peter Bale. The Europe-only beta of Spotify revolves around a client application, which lets users stream virtually any track or album from the company’s remote library. In the UK the service is £10 per month, or free with a minute of advertising interspersed every 30 minutes. Sources: http://www.electronista.com/articles/09/07/13/ms.music.streaming.
Microsoft is about to Launch Music Streaming Service..According to The Telegraph, they’re launching a music streaming service later this month. The details, however, are sketchy. Peter Bale, executive producer of MSN, told The Telegraph that “it will be a similar principle to Spotify but we are still examining how the business model will work.” SpotifySpotify offers (in selected countries, US not included) a combination of ad-supported free streaming, 24 hour passes, and premium, ad-free music streaming for 9.99 euros a month. Microsoft has several platforms at its disposal, namely the Zune and the Xbox, both of which would be good vehicles for a music streaming service. How exactly Microsoft plans to tie them to this new service, which partners will they have at launch, and what the pricing will be remain a mystery. Sources: http://mashable.
