What is the new policy regarding the extension of liquor licences for movie theatres which allows patrons to bring alcohol into auditoriums?

On October 23, 2008, Regulation 719 under the Liquor Licence Act was amended to allow for the sale and service of liquor in age-restricted auditoriums (patrons must be at least 19 years of age) at movie theatres. Prior to this, movie theatres were able to apply for a liquor sales licence for a lounge or concourse area, but patrons were not able to take their drinks into the auditoriums. This initiative is a pilot program that will run until November 30, 2009.
