The new OHS legislation is made up of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2000 and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 2001. Both the Act and Regulation come into effect on 1 September 2001. Small businesses employing 20 persons or less had a grace period of up to 1 September 2003 to organise their policy, procedures and safety systems.
