As of May 1, 2004, Medicare recipients will be able to purchase a prescription drug discount card for no more than $30. If you qualify for “low income assistance” that fee will be waived. Private companies, insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies will be offering these discount prescription cards which are certified by Medicare. Cards will vary. Some may offer discounts for certain drugs at certain pharmacies in certain locations and others may offer better discounts for people with low income.
