The .NET framework created by Microsoft is a software development platform that focuses on rapid application development, platform independence and network transparency. .NET is Microsoft’s strategic initiative for server and desktop development for the next decade. According to Microsoft, .NET includes many technologies that are designed to facilitate rapid development of Internet and Intranet applications. .NET-connected solutions aim to enable businesses integrate their systems more rapidly and in a more agile manner and help them realize the promise of information anytime, anywhere, on any device.
The .NET Framework is set of technologies that form an integral part of the .NET Platform. It is Microsoft’s managed code programming model for building applications that have visually stunning user experiences, seamless and secure communication, and the ability to model a range of business processes.
The Microsoft .NET framework is a framework for software that is developed by Microsoft. Typically in the past, software ran directly off of your operating system. Now, the framework runs on your operating system and and software runs on the framework. The .NET framework should not cause any harm to your computer. We specifically run on the .NET framework v1.1.
This is a Microsoft application that is required for our software to run. It comes already installed with Windows XP. If you have an earlier version of Windows, you can download this for free here. We suggest saving to your Desktop as this will be the easiest to find. Microsoft has released a Service Pack to repair known security issues with the .NET Framework. It can be downloaded for free here. The Service Pack must be installed after installing the .NET Framework. The latest version of the Socrates Media Product Browser requires the .NET Framework Service Pack.
