What is the need CDOT is responding to?
Present Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) projections indicate that by the year 2025, the Denver metropolitan area, including the northwest area, will have an estimated population of 3.4 million people – an increase of 900,000 new residents. Such anticipated growth demonstrates need for the continued study of future mobility within the Denver Metro area and specifically in the northwest region, where forecasts estimate traffic volumes exceeding current highway capacity.
