What is the Nebraska point system?
Like many states, Nebraska has a system to keep track of driving records. Nebraska uses a point system to track violations. This system counts points against your driving record for each driving violation. The points vary depending on how serious the violation is. The points are tracked for a 2 year period, even though your driving record is permanent. So, an older violation may not count against you in the point system, but it is still a part of your permanent driver’s record. When you are convicted of a driving violation, points are counted against you as of the date of the violation, not when you were convicted. If the violation counts points against you so that you have 12 points or more against your record in a 2 year period from the date of that violation, the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles will automatically suspend your driver’s license for 6 months.
