What is the NEBOSH National Diploma?
The NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice, set at Level 6 within the NTO standards, is the most well recognised qualification for the Health and Safety practitioner with successful completion allowing full membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Holders of the Diploma may use the designatory letters DipNEBOSH after their name. The course is divided into 5 Units. One focuses on the core skills necessary to be an effective safety practitioner, while one requires the preparation and submission of an 8000 word assignment, which examines the Health and Safety provision within an organisation. The remaining three units focus on all aspects of Health and Safety and are split into: • Unit A: Managing Health and Safety • Unit B: Agents • Unit C: Workplace and Work Equipment A 3-hour examination must be undertaken for each of these three units.
