What is the nature of the data breach?
Two computers containing former classroom data were recently stolen during a burglary of a faculty members residence. Public safety officials have indicated that the computers were stolen along with a variety of household items. As of today, the computers have not been recovered but law enforcement authorities continue to look for the machines. The names, Social Security Numbers and grades of about 3,500 current and former chemistry students downloaded from class rosters were stored on the computers. The information did not include any address or credit card numbers.
