What is the National Strategy and Action Plan?
Following the conclusions of several international conventions on sustaining and conserving biodiversity, Egypt was one of the first countries to ratify and formulate a national strategy plan on biodiversity conservation in 1997. The National Strategy Action Plan was thus implemented by the Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs (the Nature Protection Service of Environment Affairs) and funded by the United Nations Development Program and the Global Environment Facility. The National Strategy Action Plan aims to achieve the following strategic objectives: the maintenance of medicinal plants in the ecosystems of dry and semi-arid lands and their genetic resources within- and outside the sites. the sustainable use of biodiversity of medicinal plants. include the maintenance and sustainable use of medicinal plants in the sectoral policies and development projects. the protection of traditional knowledge, innovations and practices of communities relevant to medicinal plants, both on a
