What is the National Latin Exam?
First given in 1977, the National Latin Exam (NLE) is a test offered every year to Latin students in each of the 50 United States, as well as several other countries throughout the world. It is sponsored jointly by the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League. At various levels, students are tested in grammar, comprehension, mythology, Roman life, and Roman history. They are also questioned on specific Latin passages of prose and poetry, depending on the test level. What are its benefits?
