What is the national healthcare system like in countries outside of the U.S.?
I’m living in China right now. I have American travel health insurance, but I’ll write about what I know about Chinese people and their healthcare. Chinese people generally do not have health insurance. It only costs about 50 cents to see a doctor and usually no more than 5 or ten dollars for treatment and medication costs for routine illnesses. Even surgeries only cost a few hundred U.S. dollars. This is because there are so many people who go see the doctor. That being said, the quality of service is very poor. You are seen by the doctor for about 5 minutes as he tries to guess your problem. For simple things it’s ok, but for more complicated illnesses or diseases, you’re going to have a problem. No doctor can agree on what your actual disease is, or what should be done about it…not even in the same hospital. Hospitals are very very dirty.
