What is the name of the following composition my Mozart?
What you heard around 25:30 was definitely not Mozart of any kind. It was a slightly flashy treatment of what sounds like an Italian popular tune, often used as light-hearted encore pieces, with which the 19thC repertoire is littered. It may even have been a bit of improvised razzle-dazzle by the young pianist himself. (Any mention of ‘Mozart’ you may have picked up was part of the neuro-scientist’s reasoning, not a reference to what was played.) Further on, both pianists played two movements from Darius Milhaud’s “Scaramouche” for two pianos. Astonishingly, neither piano had been tuned, which makes for some ‘interesting’ moments along the way…
