What is the multiplier effect (tourism)?

Basically it means that the effect tourism has on jobs in an area effects more than the tertiary sector. So a hotel (tertiary sector) would obviously employ people to look after the tourists – but others sectors (primary, secondary) would then also provide towards this… so a wholesalers (secondary sector) would sell food to the hotel, so need staff to work there…. then the food factory down the road (primary sector) would make the food that stocks the wholesalers and they too would have staff … Hope it makes sense…
