What is the motivation for joining the SFC right now?
The Google Summer of Code program includes a donation by Google to the mentoring project in the amount of $500 per student, which will total $2500 this year. The tax on this income is not insignificant. Being part of the SFC will give us a more formal way of handling this donation and ensure that taxes will be handled correctly. Hopefully, the amount of tax paid will be less than if handled by ourselves, since the SFC is a non-profit entity.
