The individualized intelligence test is considered the best single predictor for identifying giftedness ina student, and is generally considered to be an IQ score of 130 or above, which is two standard deviations above the mean IQ score of 100. Approximately 3% of the general population test at this level. Teachers, unfortunately, are not necessarily the best judges of giftedness as they tend to select good students with teacher-pleasing behaviors and overlook bright students who do not conform to traditional academic standards and academic achievement.
