What is the most significant issue facing Fairfax County Public Schools?
Fairfax County government is facing falling tax revenue and tight budget constraints that will force reductions in some county services. The School Board will have to make very difficult decisions about how to cut costs, while maintaining what is acknowledged to be the finest public school system in America. We need to make budget decisions in a transparent way that invites input from parents, students, teachers, school administrators and other FCPS employees. How would you address this issue? We need to reduce administrative costs by simplifying procedures, improving efficiency in operations and demanding greater accountability from school administrators. By investing in energy efficient renovations, we can reduce our school utility bills. We must develop a school construction plan that will ultimately eliminate trailers.
